COURT RE-SURFACING

Through continuous use, weather conditions and time, courts will eventually need to be re-surfaced. This is where Brady Brown Construction comes in! We will analyze the existing conditions of the court and typically start with a power washing. Putting water on the deck and saturating an existing area will show us a lot of the areas that need repair due to blistering or peeling. This also gives us the chance to clean out cracks and assess damage. Next we will diamond grind any peeling areas or flaky paint down to the bare concrete. This step is also where we will grind down any concrete vertical displacement caused by the cracks, etc. We will then fill in the cracks with the appropriate patch material and when necessary or requested level any low spots or “bird baths” that collect water. We usually have a three step coating process for acrylic coatings.

Three Step Coating Process

The concrete gets a coat of concrete primer, and then the first coat is the acrylic re-surfacer, typically blended with #60 silica sand or coverage of any imperfections. The second coat is a color coat typically with #90 silica sand for a uniform textured coating. Final coat is also a color coat without any sand in it to show the true color and help seal the previous sanded coatings. After the third color coating we will stripe depending on if the paint needs to cure a day or two in the winter months, or stripe the same day in the summer time.
